Legs F Junior

  1. Røros – Tufsingdalen: 90 km
  2. Tufsingdalen – Tolga: 55 km
  3. Tolga – Røros: 67 km

Total: 212 km

The trail for 2018 will be the same as for 2017, passes through high mountains, open plains, recreational areas, lakes, rivers, nature reserves, fields and reindeer herding areas. We have a good and close cooperation with the 100-odd landowners, municipalities, counties, reindeer herders and state forests so that the Femund Race trail shall be a good experience for mushers, dogs, sponsors and audience.

For safety measures, the Femund Race security team will follow the junior race separately along with the Red Cross rescue.

Røros – Tufsingdalen approximately 90 km

Start in Kjerkgata in the centre of Røros. The route goes to Småsetran, down to Gjettjønna and then to Bredalslia, Narskaftet and finally to Tufsingdalen. The route is approximately 90 km long. Sleep time in Tufsingdalen decreases from 6 to 5 hours plus time alignment.

Tufsingdalen – Tolga approximately 55 km

Out of CP Tufsingdalen towards Narbuvoll over undulating open terrain. Drive until you come to the F400 & F600 trail. Turn Left towards CP Tolga. Drive over Narskaftet and Veslehøgda, cross the road 26 at Tangvollen, pass Tolga Rifle Range and downhill to CP Tolga.

Tolga – Røros approximately 68 km

Out from CP Tolga up to the power line to the Mountain road, follow undulating terrain to the Rifle Range. From there to Moan and Hyllveien to Enkjefloden and Tangvollen, then down to Langtjønna and cross the road 26 Hodalsveien. Further eastwards past Veslehøgda, Narskaftet, then left down towards Narbuvoll and follow the old church road. Drive under the road 28 bridge, then the last uphill to Bredalslia and Grøhøgda, then down to Skistuggu and into the finish at Idretts Park Hotel in Røros.

We will do our best to give the athletes a challenging and exciting trail!

F400 starts in Røros and follows the same route as FJunior and F600 to CP Tufsingdalen. It then continues to follow the same route as F600 until Tynset, before separating and going to Tolga and on to the finish in Røros.

Røros – Tufsingdalen approximately 96 km

Start in Kjerkgata in the centre of Røros. From start to Småsetran, Skåkåsen, Skjevdalen, Møllmannsdalen towards Røros, Gjettjønna and then Bredalslia,
Narskaftet and Tufsingdalen. The route is approximately 96 km long.

Tufsingdalen – Drevsjø approximately 64 km

From Tufsingdalen, drive over Kvennvikhøgda, before crossing the road 26 by Buvika. Flat marsh terrain from Femunden until Isteren. Follow Isteren lake down towards Gløtberget. From Gløtberget travel close to Femundsvika in lightly wooded terrain and on icy rivers (Gløta). Concerning the F400 there are changes both coming in and leaving Drevsjø. Coming in to Drevsjø (you will not cross two roads,) the trail will go east and parallel to the county road. Leaving Drevsjø the route has been altered altogether due to the lack of snow. The trail connects en route to Sølensjøen. In this area there will be some technical sledging. (NB; the sledges may be damaged).

Drevsjø – Søvollen approximately 72 km

Out from the CP, the track has been changed, see information above. Driving north of Sørsjøen lake, then turn south towards Furuknulen. Over Djupdal marsh and towards Bjertkjølen through light elevation forest and marsh terrain. From Bjertkjølen steep downhill trail towards road 217. From the road onto Galten easy terrain north until entering an unploughed road. Following this road westwards towards Sølen and all the way to the north end of Sølensjøen. Over marsh land and river towards Sølenkroken and Hauksetvollen. Following an unploughed road travel northwards towards Møyåvollen. Here the trail turns west / southwest towards Søvollen. Here is a high mountain crossing that can have challenging conditions due to strong winds. Follow the road past Smikkjølbua and Sørvollshaugen down towards CP Søvollen.

Søvollen – Tolga approximately 72 km

Out from Søvollen CP, drive northwards in light marsh and woodland. Turn past Klettsætra and further northwards. Come to an unplowed road with steep downhills towards road 655 (Brydalsveien). Cross road 655 just north of “Solstad”, then continue north in woodland about 4 km. Coming to partially plowed road towards Finnstad. Turn left by the Rifle Range and follow marshland and unplowed road into Værådalen valley. Coming in at Aumdalsveien (road) and follow it towards Tynset approximately 8 km, then arrive at groomed ski trail. Follow the ski trails along Krokettjørna towards Aumlivangen. Turn right towards Grønfjellet. F400 competitors follow the trail towards Gammeldalen entering checkpoint Tolga. Do NOT head to the Tynset Rifle Range.

Over fields and unploughed road and more fields to Jordet, Skogtun, Granum, Storbekken and into CP Tolga.

Tolga – Røros approximately 67 km

Out from CP Tolga up to the power line to the Mountain road, follow undulating terrain to the Rifle Range. Concerning the F600 there are changes both coming in and leaving Drevsjø. Coming in to Drevsjø (you will not cross two roads,) the trail will go east and parallel to the county road. Leaving Drevsjø the route has been altered altogether due to the lack of snow. The trail connects en route to Sølensjøen. In this area there will be some technical sledging. (NB; the sledges may be damaged – take extra care).

Concerning F600; due to the lack of snow the trail around Folldal is omitted. There will be a head-on-passing with two checkpoints in Orkelbogen as follows; Søvollen – Orkelbogen – Grimsbu – Orkelbogen – Tolga. It will not be an open cafe for Orkelbogen 2.

600 – The Femund Race – 600 km Trail, 2018

The trail passes through high mountains, open plains, recreational areas, lakes, rivers, nature reserves, fields and reindeer herding areas. F600 starts in Røros and follows the same route as FJunior and F400 to CP Tufsingdalen. It then continues to follow the same route as F400 until Tynset, before separating and going to Orkelbogen and Grimsbu then returning to Tynset, where it rejoins the same route as F400 to Tolga and on to Røros.

Røros – Tufsingdalen approximately 96 km

Start in Kjerkgata in the centre of Røros. Goes from start to Småsetran, Skåkåsen, Skjevdalen, Møllmannsdalen towards Røros, Gjettjønna and then Bredalslia, Narskaftet and finally Tufsingdalen. The distance is ca 96 km long.

Out from Søvollen CP, drive northwards on light marsh and woodland. Turn past Klettsætra and further northwards. Come to an unplowed road with steep downhills towards road 655 (Brydalsveien). Out from the Rifle Range towards Tynset town centre. Go under road bridge *(NB Low bridge) and under rail bridge. Follow the river down towards Tynset, under the large bridge at Tynset. Continue towards Motrøkrysset near the main road 3. Go under road 3, then travel parallel to the road 3 on a walkway, take a sharp right across a small parking area and down onto the river. *(NB This can be a tricky point, there are many alternatives for the dogs to choose). Follow the river north a few kms across fields and along farms. Coming to a ploughed road that then becomes an unploughed road after a few hundred meters. Follow the unploughed road past Svartåsen, Bakkvangen, Kroken, Straumsmoen, Lomsjøen and Sparsjøen. Pass Gløta (river / stream), turn right heading north towards Kvikne. Following relatively easy terrain towards Stugusjøen and Kaldbekkangen until arriving CP Orkelbogen.

Orkelbogen – Grimsbu approximately 75 km (ATTN: most of the route runs in exposed high mountains!)

Concerning F600; due to the lack of snow the trail around Folldal is omitted. There will be a head-on-passing with two checkpoints in Orkelbogen as follows; Søvollen – Orkelbogen – Grimsbu – Orkelbogen – Tolga.

Drive parallel to Orkla River to the lower Dølvad summer farm, through summer pasture, across Orkla and continue in the birch forest to the west of Høgflobekken. Travel southeast toward Øyabekkfjellet west of Store Børsjøen, sumer road to the south of Hamndalen, then down to Gløta. East towards Gløtdalen across marsh towards Sørgårdsvangen. Rødalen to Strålbergsetra. 500 meters after the boom there is a sharp right over the small river, parallel to Sivilhaug summer farm and southwest to Markbulidammen. Then marsh land south towards Moskardtjønnan. Turn sharp right and pass the unploughed road southwest toward Gråvoltjønna, driving south until Gammelsætran, on to an unploughed road to Fatfjellsætran down to Grimsbu.

Concerning F600; due to the lack of snow the trail around Folldal is omitted.

Grimsbu – Orkelbogen 66 km

You go back to Orkelbogen because little snow towards Tolga. There will be a head-on-passing with two checkpoints in Orkelbogen as follows; Søvollen – Orkelbogen – Grimsbu – Orkelbogen – Tolga.
