Femund Inside (Norwegian)

The Femund Race takes a step into the future. Last year, all of Norway enjoyed watching the impressive Femund race through the TV2 effort. The Femund Race has no intention to take a step back, and has decided to fill the void after the TV broadcast themselves. Through local expertise in Frontal Media AS, a brand new platform has been built to broadcast the Femund Race 2018.

The result system K2 will still be open as before.

Femund Inside will give you access to live reports from start to finish, in addition to GPS-tracking, our newly developed result system, video interviews, and continuous updates from our web. The web team consists of Sjur Åsgård, Marit Beate Kasin, Christine Karijord, Thomas Werner, Morten Haugseggen and Eirik Bækken. Frontal Media AS operates Femund Inside.

Femund Inside is a paid service and for the time being, most of the material is in Norwegian only. For NOK 99, – the public gets access to everything that is being posted before and during the race in 2018. We encourage contestants to recommend Femund Inside and buy access to this site.

Instagram and #femund4all

Participate in the competition and win products from our sponsor and partner Devold by tagging pictures with #femund4all and #femundløpet2018

Part of Femund Inside is the term Femund4All. The objective is to make the Femund Race available for everyone, both in terms of pure entertainment as in Femund Inside, but also to take part in the experience. As part of Femund4All, dog sledding will be made available to the public just outside Røros, the goal being that the term will cover a lot more in the years to come.

Anyone can post pictures from the Femund Race on Instagram with the tag #femund4all and #femundløpet2018. Experienced local photographers have already announced their contribution. Between 7-14 February a winner of ‘today’s picture’ will be announced daily amongst those who use #femund4all. The winners will receive prizes from our sponsor and partner Devold of Norway.

Advertising on the participants’ hat / cap

With reference to chapter 3.7 in our regulations, the event organiser can make the participants carry advertising on their clothing or sled.
The county of Hedmark has made a substantial financial contribution to the Femund Race this year. The profiling agreement states their right to profiling on the participants’ headwear. Logos will be handed out at registration and should be pinned to the hat or cap.

The opening ceremony, a cultural event

We repeat the success from 2017 and invite all participants, volunteers and others to a memorable opening ceremony of the Femund Race and Norwegian Championship 2018 in the church of Røros Thursday 8 February at 6.30 pm. Free entrance. After the opening ceremony we walk with the Children’s Cancer Foundation down the main street to Nilsenhjørnet where the NC class will be given their start numbers.

Registration and secretariat

All registration takes place at the secretariat Wednesday and Thursday at Verket Røros. Maps and licenses can be acquired here. The Race administration opens at Idrettsparken Hotel on Friday. See program for opening hours.

Tickets to the opening and closing events are sold at the secretariat. This is included in the price for the participants and will be handed out at registration. Handlers and other guests will have to buy their tickets at Bergstadens Hotel. The price for the pizza buffet after the opening ceremony Thursday 8 February is NOK 135,- and dinner after the medal ceremony Tuesday 13 February is NOK 400,-.

Dog identification / chips

A list of chip numbers for all your race dogs. Must be handed in at registration. The chip list may be downloaded and completed before you leave home.

Documentation on pre-race veterinary checks

As stated in the regulations for 2018 and the veterinary information, there is a requirement for a pre-race veterinary check to take place at your own veterinary. Documentation confirming this must be handed over at registration. All necessary information can be found here.

Start license / insurance

All Norwegian participants must have a valid accident- and liability insurance to start the race. If you have a valid Norwegian start license, this will pass as insurance. You can purchase a one-time license from NHF when you check in at Røros. We recommend everyone to have a valid travelers insurance.

Files for downloading

Here you will find downloadable PDF-files with the chip list for the registration of your race dogs and the declaration for the rules and mandatory equipment for the Femund race 2018.

Race café

Verket Røros and Idrettsparken Hotel have a café that is open while the secretariat and the race office are staffed. We recommend everyone to use Idrettsparken Hotel as the race café.

The start

All the races start in Church street (“Kjerkgata”) in the centre of Røros. The stabling area is in the parallel street next to Church street (“Bergmannsgata”) and at Malmplassen. All the racers with their dog sleds will get assistance by ATVs and crew at the start of the race. More information will follow at the musher meetings.

The track

The track is almost identical with last year´s track (2017), except for F600 between Orkelbogen – Grimsbu and back. This will follow the originally planned track for 2015. The distance has been increased both ways, by 15 km. Read the track information on this page.

Finish line

All the races finish at Øra stadion near Idrettsparken Hotel.

Toll roads and parking fees

There is a toll road and a parking fee at Søvollen and Orkelbogen. Checkpoint Drevsjø also has a parking fee.

To get your ticket for the prize ceremony, you need to return all the equipment given to you. If you do not finish the race (DNF), you return the equipment to the closest checkpoint. Please remember to return the equipment. If you do not return the equipment, you will be invoiced with NOK 5 000,-.
