In order to be able to facilitate the Femund Race each year we are completely dependent on volunteer efforts from about 700 volunteers.

Would you like to volunteer at one of the check points? In the starting area? At the finishing line? Please get in touch with us today.

Who can register as volunteer?

Anyone who:
  • enjoys physical activities and would like to work in the outdoors, in close cooperation with dogs and participants.
  • likes to work with people and provide service.
  • likes to be where it happens when it happens.
  • can handle little sleep and busy days with lots of things going on at the same time.

Tasks performed by volunteers:

  • technical support
  • administrative support
  • work at the arena
  • guards along the route
  • checkpoint support
  • work during the opening ceremonies, reward ceremonies/banquet
  • support at start and finish arenas

To work as a volunteer is not a paid job, but you’ll have unique experiences. You must arrange your own transport to where you’re given a task. Unfortunately the Femundrace cannot pay your travel expenses, room and board; but most checkpoints allow volunteers to stay at their dormitories free of charge. Volunteers must arrange their own transport to&from the checkpoint. Check-points Røros and Tolga are situated along the railway trail (from Gardermoen airport). You must arrange your own transport to&from the other checkpoints (Tufsingdalen, Drevsjø, Trysil, Søvollen and Orkelbogen). Appropriate clothing for the winter is a “must” – It might get cold!

Volunteer translators

We are also seeking translators that can work during the whole year translating texts and articles for our website from Norwegian to English and vice versa. This is a job that can be done from anywhere in the world as long as you have a computer and an internet connection!
